Summary
- Customized Kinetic, Eagle, or both products: LayerNext. It posts to Epicor through the API where one exists and through the ERP's own screens where it does not, then reconciles to the bank feed and vendor statements.
- Eagle: Epicor's AP Assist needs a template for each vendor before it reads that vendor's invoices. LayerNext also supports Eagle. Epicor shipped Eagle Release 36 in August 2026, so Eagle is an active product.
- Standard Kinetic: Epicor ECM if you want one Epicor vendor. Esker, delivered by Enlighten.Net, supports Kinetic. Yooz has an Epicor API integration but does not specify the product, so confirm your release.
- Kinetic on-premises (installed on your own servers): Epicor's January 2026 timeline puts the final on-premises Kinetic release at 2028.1, tentatively January 2028 (Enterprise Times). Eagle is not on it.
- Approvals are the main problem: Stampli.
- Run partial receipts, non-PO invoices and duplicate invoice numbers through every shortlisted option before you sign.
The best AP automation software for Epicor Eagle and Kinetic is the one that posts into your release through whichever interface it has, and keeps working after the entry posts. A standard Kinetic install can price Epicor ECM (Epicor's enterprise content management product), Yooz and Esker. A customized Kinetic install, an Eagle dealer or a business running both is better served by LayerNext.
Epicor is several products with separate AP modules and interfaces, and most tools are built for one of them. An API is the interface that lets one program read and write another program's data. Epicor ECM's integrations do not include Eagle, and among these options only LayerNext and Epicor's own AP Assist cover Eagle.
This comparison covers six options as of October 2026. LayerNext wrote it and is on the list. We rank LayerNext first for the Epicor shop where API access is the open question, and say where it stops. Put the five checks below to every vendor, us included.
Quick answer
- Pick the tool that posts into your Epicor release through its API or its screens, and keeps working after the entry posts.
- Customized Kinetic, Eagle, or both: LayerNext. Standard Kinetic: price Epicor ECM, Yooz and Esker. Approvals are the main problem: Stampli.
- Eagle has two options here: Epicor's AP Assist, which needs a template for each vendor, and LayerNext.
- Eagle is not being retired. Kinetic's final on-premises release is tentatively January 2028.
Tool Comparison Summary
The order assumes a customized Kinetic install, an Eagle dealer, or a business running more than one Epicor product.
The Ranking Weighs Five Things an Epicor Shop Tests
- Which Epicor products and releases the vendor supports. A vendor that supports Epicor ERP has not necessarily tested your release, and a business running two products needs a tool that covers both.
- How entries reach Epicor. An API, a file import and the ERP's own screens each fail differently on a customized system.
- How deep matching goes. Two-way matching compares the invoice with the PO, three-way matching adds the receipt, and line-level matching checks each line, so they treat partial receipts differently.
- How exceptions arrive. Each exception needs the invoice, the supplier, the reason and a named owner.
- What happens after posting. Bank reconciliation and vendor statement checks decide whether the first week of the month still goes to matching.
1. LayerNext
LayerNext is an AI-powered financial operations platform. Its AI agents take an invoice from intake to posting in the Epicor release you run, following rules the finance team writes in plain English. It supports both Eagle and Kinetic, with guides to AP automation for Epicor Kinetic and Vantage and AP automation for Epicor Eagle, BisTrack and LumberTrack.
LayerNext posts through the API where one exists and through the ERP's own screens, the way a person would, where it does not. The guide to Epicor AP automation without an API covers the screens path. The workflow, business rules and audit trail are the same on either path, so a business running both Eagle and Kinetic uses one platform for each. The agents run whatever workflow the finance team defines through business rules and custom workflows, so the steps below are common starting points.
Across deployments, finance teams see 90 to 165 hours saved per month, 90 to 100% fewer processing errors and 95%+ task accuracy on defined workflows. The figures are not specific to Epicor, and they depend on invoice volume and data quality.
LayerNext is a separate platform, so it adds a vendor and a rollout of 7 to 12 weeks. A Kinetic shop that only needs invoice capture inside Epicor's own tools can start with ECM.

Features:
- Intake by email, shared folder, cloud storage or phone photo, with scans and unfamiliar layouts read without a template per vendor
- Duplicates flagged at capture
- Three-way match against the PO and receipt, with price drift, quantity mismatches and missing POs sent to a named person
- Approval rules by amount, vendor or GL code, with approvers on iOS and Android
- Posting to Epicor through the API or the ERP's own screens, with a full audit trail
- Bank feed reconciliation through Plaid (a service that connects to bank accounts), vendor statement reconciliation, supplier credit memos and vendor rebate tracking
Pricing: Quote, volume based.
Complexity: Medium; phased over 7 to 12 weeks (discovery in weeks 1 to 2, pilot in weeks 3 to 6, full deployment in weeks 7 to 12).
Trial: Demo-based
2. Epicor ECM AP Automation
Epicor ECM AP Automation captures, indexes, routes and approves invoices. It runs as SaaS (hosted by Epicor) or self-hosted with the same user experience, and integrates with Epicor and other ERPs through a two-way API, so data moves in both directions. For a Kinetic shop that also wants document governance beyond AP, ECM is the first option to price. G2 reviews put average implementation at five months (G2).
Its integrations are Kinetic, Prophet 21, Vision, Epicor ERP 10 and Quick Ship. Eagle is not among them, so ask Epicor in writing whether ECM covers Eagle AP (fact sheet). See LayerNext's guide to Epicor ECM AP automation.
Features:
- Two- and three-way matching, with Intelligent Data Capture matching inbound invoices to purchase orders or receipts
- Two-way API, as SaaS or self-hosted
- Audit trail on every interaction with a document, and ValiDate authenticity controls
Pricing: Not published.
Complexity: Medium to high; about five months to implement in G2 reviews.
Trial: Contact Epicor; no published free trial.
3. Stampli
Stampli is a procure-to-pay platform with procurement, AP, payments, vendor management and expenses in one system, built around approvals and collaboration. Its Epicor integration is for Epicor ERP, so Kinetic support for your release and the owner of the final posting step are the two questions to settle. G2 reviews put average implementation at one month (G2).

Features:
- Invoice collaboration and approvals
- File integration, where files of data are exchanged with Epicor instead of a live API connection, that syncs the vendor list, GL accounts, open purchase orders, line items and receiving
- Authorized invoices and payment information returned to Epicor
Pricing: By quote.
Complexity: Low to medium; a file integration, with about one month to implement in G2 reviews.
Trial: Demo-based; request a quote. No published free trial.
4. Yooz
Yooz is a cloud AP and purchase-to-pay platform with its North American headquarters in the Dallas area. Its Epicor integration connects through an API, retrieves purchase transactions from Epicor in real time and embeds the invoice image in the Epicor record. Yooz does not specify which Epicor products the integration covers, so ask which products and releases it has been tested on.
Features:
- Invoices received by email, SFTP (a secure file transfer) or scan
- Chart of accounts, dimensions and vendors synced with Epicor
- Purchase order integration and approval workflows before an invoice is released
Pricing: By quote.
Complexity: Medium; an API integration with your Epicor release.
Trial: Ask Yooz for demo and trial terms.
5. Esker
Esker is a document process automation vendor with AP, order-to-cash and other products. Enlighten.Net delivers Esker's AP automation to Epicor shops running Kinetic, Prophet 21, Eclipse and Prelude. On Eclipse it works alongside the existing posting rules and approvals. Esker does not specify support for Eagle or how invoices post into Epicor, so ask for both.

Features:
- Automated invoice validation
- Automated approval process
- Analytics and dashboards
Pricing: Not published.
Complexity: Medium; delivered through Enlighten.Net, so confirm the posting method for your release.
Trial: Demo-based; Capterra lists no free trial.
6. Eagle AP Assist
AP Assist scans vendor invoices into Eagle through WebDocs, Eagle's cloud-based document storage, links each to its purchase order, and shows whether it matches the receiving document within tolerance. Staff review and confirm the links. A template must be built for each vendor before the OCR (optical character recognition) reads that vendor's invoices, which suits a stable vendor list and becomes a queue when vendors are added. Eagle 34.1 added a link in the A/P Transactions Viewer that opens AP Assist invoices (Epicor).
Features:
- Scanned invoices linked to POs, with a match status against the receiving document
- A template for each vendor before its invoices are read
- Opens from Eagle's A/P Transactions Viewer
Pricing: Not published.
Complexity: Medium; each vendor needs a template first.
Trial: Contact Epicor; no published free trial.
Epicor Eagle AP Automation Has Fewer Options
For an Eagle dealer, the practical shortlist is Epicor's AP Assist and LayerNext. Eagle remains an active product: Epicor published Eagle Release 36 in August 2026, and its January 2026 on-premises timeline covers Kinetic, Prophet 21 and BisTrack, not Eagle. Epicor also sells Propello, a cloud-based retail management solution. Tobinson Hardware, an Epicor customer for more than 20 years, moved from Eagle to Propello, and Propello 2026.1 added an AP Assist integration (ERP Today).
What Happens After an Entry Posts
After an entry posts, three checks remain: the bank clears it, the vendor statement agrees with open AP, and credits and rebates are applied. LayerNext matches posted entries to a live bank feed as they arrive. It also reconciles vendor statements against open AP, applies supplier credit memos, and tracks vendor volume rebates earned, flagging amounts that have not been claimed. See LayerNext's account reconciliation software. For every other option, ask what happens after an entry posts.
Run Your Own Invoices Through Every Option
Build one test set and run it through every shortlisted option, ECM included.
- Partial receipts: one shipment received in two parts and billed on two invoices.
- Unit-of-measure mismatches: an invoice in cases against a PO in each.
- Non-PO invoices: recurring freight, utilities and services, with GL coding left to the tool.
- Duplicate numbers: two invoices from one vendor in the same month with the same reference.
- Price variances: a unit price that differs from the PO inside and outside tolerance.
The partial-receipt case shows the most about matching. Take a PO for 100 units, received as 60 and 40 on two days and billed on two invoices, and read the result on the 60-unit invoice:
Score each option on four counts: what matched on its own, what was flagged and why, what posted, and what a person still keyed.
